Figure 1 A Staff member working on the Rosenberg Alien’s Head Model (Industrial Light & Magic, No date)
This Head project was inspired by the scene from MIB: which involved an autopsy where the body was lying on a morgue table which showed the likeness of the actor and the scene played out opening up to reveal an alien (Mark, S., 2017).
Industrial Light & Magic achieved this via a combination of models, replicas, sets robots and Computer Generated Effects. This allowed the computer generated character to be conveyed in conjunction with the technical aspects of the creation (Industrial Light & Magic, No date).
To achieve this project various tools were used to discover and manufacture the head and head hinges to achieve a human head model. Therefore the following tools were examined: STL Viewer, Blender, Fusion360, Handyscan 3D, Artec Eva 3D Scanner, 3D Systems Touch X pen, 3D printer, Laser Cutting, Latex and Latex printing.
The Software Considered was: Github Desktop, Fusion360, Autodesk 123D Design, Blender, Shogun Live Software, Adobe Illustrator, Geomagic Freeform.
Evaluation of the use of these tools and Reflection on how well the project went was required as part of the module (what tools were relevant and how the implementation and use of these tools helped). The Product Design Development Process (Baker, P., 2010) Includes 5 stages: Concept Design, Design Development, Detailed Development, Preproduction and Production.
To begin please start by reading through the Design section, Development section, Detail Section and Production Section that should lead onto the Conclusion Section of the project whole.
